This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely undertake approved work on or near energised low-voltage electrical apparatus from ground level. It covers work planning, hazard identification, risk assessment, PPE, insulating equipment, safety-observer requirements, live-work methods, emergency preparedness and completion of work in accordance with network procedures.
The course includes:
- live-LV work principles and limitations
- justification and authorisation for energised work
- job planning, JSEA and risk controls
- identification of LV apparatus and conductors
- approved ground-level live-work techniques
- insulated tools, protective covers and barriers
- arc-rated clothing and electrical PPE
- safety-observer responsibilities
- prevention of simultaneous contact and short circuits
- worksite establishment and exclusion zones
- emergency and rescue preparedness
- practical live-work simulations or approved controlled activities
- final knowledge and practical assessment
